The Can-Do Spirit Awards showcase the best and brightest in our community – local visionaries and game-changers who embody the Maverick, Can-Do Spirit that sets Dallas apart. These Terms and Conditions set out general conditions for the nomination and selection of the Can-Doer Awardees. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to participate.
With the support of the Dallas community, up to five (5) Can-Doer Awardees will be selected, one representing each of the following five pillars:
A diverse community of people
Creative culinary influence
Arts and entertainment
Future-facing innovative audacity
Iconic sports culture
Eligibility. In order to be recognized as a Can-Doer Awardee, nominees must be at least 21 years of age as of September 1, 2024, and currently work or reside within Dallas, Texas city limits. Employees of The Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, Dallas Tourism Public Improvement District Corporation[PG1] , and their affiliated entities, together with the immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and those persons living in the same household as such employees (whether or not related), are not eligible to be selected as a Final Nominee or Can-Doer Awardee.
Nominations. Can-Doer nominations must be submitted online at https://www.visitdallas.com/brand/can-do-spirit-awards/
and all nominations must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm CT on September 22, 2024. To submit a nomination, complete the online entry form including:
Submitter’s first and last name
Submitter’s email address
Submitter’s phone number
The name of the person you wish to nominate as a Can-Doer
The nominee’s email address (if known)
The pillar the nominee represents
A short description of how the nominee represents the selected pillar and embodies a maverick, can-do spirit
You may be given the option to opt-in to receive promotional and other communications from Visit Dallas when you submit a nomination, but opting in is not required to submit a nomination. By submitting a nomination you agree to the use of submitted information in accordance with the section of these Terms and Conditions titled “Use of Information” below.
If your nominee is selected at a Final Nominee, you and/or the nominee may be contacted by Visit Dallas for additional information.
Selection of Final Nominees. On or about September 27, 2024, a committee of judges selected by Visit Dallas will select three (3) Final Nominees for each pillar (up to 15 Final Nominees total) from among all eligible nominations received based on criteria including how the nominee represents the selected pillar and how the nominee embodies the maverick, can-do spirit that sets Dallas apart.
All Potential Final Nominees will be required to complete and sign a liability and publicity release provided by Visit Dallas no later than September 29, 2024. Any potential Final Nominee that fails to timely return the signed liability and publicity release will be disqualified, and an alternate potential Final Nominee will be selected by the judges.
Selection of Can-Doer Awardees. On or about September 30, 2024, Visit Dallas will post the names and relevant information regarding each of the Final Nominees online at https://www.visitdallas.com/brand/can-do-spirit-awards/ and members of the public will be encouraged to go to https://www.visitdallas.com/brand/can-do-spirit-awards/ to vote on which Final Nominee best represents the selected pillar and embodies the maverick can-do spirit of each of the five pillars. Voting will conclude at 11:59 pm CT on October 13, 2024. Any modifications to the voting window will be posted online at https://www.visitdallas.com/brand/can-do-spirit-awards/.
In order to submit a vote, you will be required to provide the information specified in the voting form, which may include, among other information, your first and last name, email, and zip code. You may be given the option to opt-in to receive promotional and other communications from Visit Dallas when you submit a vote, but opting in is not required to submit a vote. By submitting a vote you agree to the use of submitted information in accordance with the section of these Terms and Conditions titled Use of Information below. Limit one (1) vote per pillar per voter, please.
On or about October 14, 2024, the Final Nominee who received the most votes in each of the five pillars will be a Can-Doer Awardee (total of five (5) Can-Doer Awardees, one for each pillar), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Terms and Conditions. In the event two or more Final Nominees within a pillar are tied for the highest number of votes, Visit Dallas will conduct a random drawing from among the tied Final Nominees to determine the Can-Doer Awardee for that pillar.
The Can-Doer Awardees will be announced at the Visit Dallas Annual Meeting on October 29, 2024, and thereafter be recognized via Visit Dallas social media and other promotional channels as determined by Visit Dallas.
Verification. All nominees may be subject to verification, including verification that the nominee resides or works within the city limits of Dallas, TX. If a nominee’s eligibility cannot be verified, such nominee may be disqualified from consideration.
Modification, Cancellation, or Suspension. Visit Dallas reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, cancel, or suspend the Can-Do Spirit Awards should any cause or problem corrupt or inhibit its administration, fairness, security, or proper operation. If, in Visit Dallas’ reasonable opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of tampering with any portion of the awards process, or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the awards process, Visit Dallas reserves the right to terminate the Can-Do Spirit Awards, or any portion thereof, including without limitation the voting process, and may select Can Doer Awardees by any such means as determined by Visit Dallas. Visit Dallas may prohibit nominators, nominees, and/or voters from participating in the awards process if, in its sole discretion, it determines any of the foregoing are attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the awards process by cheating, deception, or other unfair practices.
Use of Information. Personally identifiable information that is submitted by persons submitting a nomination will be subject to Visit Dallas’ privacy policy at https://www.visitdallas.com/privacy-policy/. By submitting information in connection with the Can-Do Spirit Awards, you hereby agree to Visit Dallas’ collection and usage of your personal information and acknowledge that you have read and accepted Visit Dallas’ privacy policy.
